Abstract

This Community Service Program (KKN) aims to improve the reading skills of early childhood children in Lawangan Daya Village through a play-based learning approach. This program is motivated by the low basic reading skills of children and the lack of engaging and enjoyable learning methods. The method used in this activity is Participatory Action Research (PAR), which involves participatory planning, implementation, and reflection with the community. The activity is carried out in three meetings, with material arranged in stages: letter recognition through songs and flashcards, word formation through a letter card relay game, and reading long sentences using a magic box. Each meeting is designed as an educational game and motivates children to actively participate in the learning process. The results of the activity show an increase in children's reading skills, both in terms of courage, pronunciation, and understanding of word and sentence structure. Children also appear more enthusiastic and confident in participating in the learning process. This approach is considered effective and suitable for implementation in non-formal education environments as a strategy to strengthen early childhood literacy.
